LifeMojo: Nutrition And Diet Consultation Platform
At some point in time in our lives we go through some form or the other for dieting. Today’s health cautious world pays quite a bit of attention to health, fitness and nutrition. Namit Nangia cashed on this trend early and formed LifeMojo. LifeMojo already has around 50,000 subscribers and has projected revenues of about 1.5 crores.
- Genesis of your startup: how you started?
Namit Nangia, an Engineer by qualification and an entrepreneur at heart, started LifeMojo in May 2008. He is also a health freak, which led him to start LifeMojo, which provides Nutrition And Diet Consultation. LifeMojo was incubated during the days when Namit himself had gone under weight reducing spree (at which he was successful too!). But to his dismay, he regained it all pretty quickly. Namit realized that there was a need for diet consulting, which can constantly monitor a persons diet and nutrition, plans, based on the person’s body composition. But such consulting was either expensive for most people or there were traveling hassles. Namit quickly conceptualized the need and formed LifeMojo, which provides telephonic consultation and also lets people manage their diet-plans and schedules online.
- Challenges faced in the start-up phase?
The biggest challenge that Namit and his team faced was to design an offering (the right mix and frequency of healthcare professionals’ interactions). They hired the best healthcare experts around and formulated the mix. They concentrated on feedback and kept asking their customers what they wanted and implemented their advice at every step of their growth.
- Business model of your idea?
LifeMojo started as a B2B solution for health experts and then got evolved into the present B2C solution, where people can plan and track their lifestyle and health either themselves or via telephonic consultation to achieve their weight-loss and fitness goals, and analyze how to have a healthier lifestyle. LifeMojo also sells wellness products like Health teas, Health supplements, Organic foods, Ayurvedic products, Fitness/Sports equipments, Digital weighing scales etc.
- Revenue principles at LifeMojo?
LifeMojo gets revenue from Nutrition Consultation (around Weight Management and Diabetes) for individuals, Corporate Wellness programs, online wellness product sales and online ad revenue.
- How to keep abreast with the competitors?
According to Namit, they try and keep an eye on what is happening in the wellness market in India. If there is something interesting, they take a closer look and try to collaborate with other players.
- What is the role of innovation?
At LifeMojo, customer is the focus for driving the innovation. As the experts say that you do not have a real product or service unless you have a customer who needs it and wants it. Namit has accurately comprehended this concept. While the idea of Nutrition And Diet Consultation through an online platform itself is an innovative idea, at LifeMojo Namit and his team try to present the services the way their customers want. According to Namit, We try and listen to our customers and implement their suggestions. This has helped us to bring out the offerings that they are interested in. We believe it is always better to interact with the customers and listen what they really need. This gives us the best ideas and ways to innovate.
- What was your first big success?
It is hard to classify first big success! Today LifeMojo already has more than 50,000 subscribers. Every effort put in to reach till this level can be classified as a success in itself. They always try to ensure that everything that we experiment is successful and makes their customers happy.
- What is for future?
LifeMojo is experimenting with a couple of new things in Wellness in India. As they are in very early stage, it would be premature to talk about them. But they have hope that it will be a game changer for the way people manage their health.
