The India-Oxford Initiative (IndOx) at the University of Oxford and LEAD at Krea University call proposals for the first-ever Impact Film Competition.
The India-Oxford Initiative (IndOx) at the University of Oxford under its collaboration with Krea University, in partnership with LEAD at Krea, is all set to host its first-ever ‘Impact Film Competition’. The overall impact theme of the competition is Mental Health with the aim to shed light on the various perspectives of mental health. Aspiring young filmmakers between the age of 18-25, with a passion for the cause, are encouraged to share, document and raise awareness on any of the following aspects that impact Mental Health — Social Relationships; Gender Orientation; Work and Life; Body Image.
The winning proposal will bag funding of INR 1 Lac towards the creation of the film, in addition to one-to-one mentorship support provided by the competition’s Managing and Mentorship Partner — The Misfits Co. Together, the winner and the mentorship group will exhaustively pursue the production of the proposed concept, transforming the winning narrative into a short film adhering to a 5-10 minute duration.
The award will be granted based on the relevance of the proposed concept, clear reflection of the objective, creative history, social impact and the ability of the aspiring filmmaker to tell a visually compelling narrative. The eminent jury panel comprising of Prayaag Akbar (Visiting Senior Fellow, Literature & Arts – Krea University and author of critically acclaimed book ‘Leila’), Dr R Padmavati (Director and Psychiatrist – SCARF India) and Dr Premila Webster (Senior Research Fellow – Oxford India Sustainable Centre), will evaluate entries.
The last date for participants to submit their creative narrative is 28 February 2021.

India-Oxford Initiative (IndOx) collaboration with Krea University
Krea University and India-Oxford Initiative (IndOx) at the University of Oxford have entered into a significant 3-year agreement. Under the collaboration, both entities will work together towards knowledge creation and knowledge dissemination in the areas of Sciences and Humanities. ‘India Research Insights – The Covid Impact’ marked the first round of strategic initiatives in partnership with Lead at Krea University, followed by the ‘Impact Film Competition 2021’. Matched by the significant academic assets at both institutions and the ongoing ground-breaking projects at Krea in this space, these initiatives will find much-needed acceleration. The collaboration aims to benefit multiple stakeholder groups including teaching faculty young researchers, and students from both institutions as well as think tanks and related organizations in India. Krea University is the first and only partner of IndOx in India and this collaboration will see more such high-impact activities this year.
